(I am speaking here from my own experience, I feel no one has the right to tell others what to do, these are mere suggestions, that you may try out and see if they work for you, if not then just dispense with what does not work and keep moving forward.) I have been giving this topic a lot of thought lately. The pros and cons of healing, working as a healer and what does healing mean to the person receiving it. I do believe in working slowly and gently, always with the mind of a beginner. I have met some great healers and they were the some of the most humble and fascinating individuals I have ever known. I met Wallace Black Elk (the Lakota spiritual leader) about ten years ago and he confided in me that he learned six languages through the spirits, that was only one of his many accomplishments through his spiritual gifts. One principal everyone seems to agree on is, the energy that created us, that we all originate from is where the healing energy comes from, not from the healer. The subject heals by drawing what they need through the healer in the form of universal energy. The healer is only a vessel or conduit for the energy to flow through. Recently a friend whom I have shared a lot of my experiences with, got very curious herself and participated in an introductory meditation workshop with an association (that will remain unnamed) in which she agreed to receive some healing. I believe my friend, was violated energetically by the healer in question. This (I told my bewildered friend) happens more often than one might think, due to individuals learning advanced healing techniques without the spiritual insight or wisdom that is to go along with using those techniques on people. Whatever we put out there will come back to us tenfold and I have seen and treated many people working in this way (without the proper context or compassion for other souls) who end up being a receiver for negativity. Sometimes I was not able to pull all the darkness off them. They may end up getting very ill or have a lot of chaos in their lives or need followers in order to remain vital. When I teach my classes I warn my students about such teachers, organizations or practitioners, always use your gut as an indicator as to whether something is working for you or not. There are two kinds of workers out there, these days the border is very fuzzy, if you don’t have the talent or requisite level of compassion then in my opinion you are working from the negative side of the pole. I have been honored and fortunate to work on some very interesting cases over the past two years that I have expanded my practice into doing hands on healing. A young woman came to see me who had the ability to see into other dimensions. I received that she was picking up and absorbing the pain of the others (whether they were dead or alive). I worked on this woman for an hour and later that day she had her first really good night of sleep in months. I taught her in the brief time we had together about her gifts and that she was not going insane (some professionals at her school had suggest she go on medication for the claims she was making). I have heard from her mother that this individual is doing much better and is much more at peace with herself. This is my experience of healing, and I have been the unfortunate recipient of the not so positive types of energetic displays, although not to the degree of my friend. To explain further; not trying to prove oneself to the client or do something the client doesn’t need or hasn’t asked for. Before I begin, I pray and ask the spirits to be here for the individual requiring help. When I work on someone I have special guides or spirits that work with me, I also connect with the client’s guides (if there are any around who want to participate) and the work commences. I get diagnostic information through the pulse, my guidance then shows me where to put my hands (I also see the spirits in different places around the client). I can feel the flow of energy in my body and arms, hands. I feel a faint pulling when blockages are being removed and heat or I see images when energy is being restored. This energy work is not only good for physical problems but has helped with the emotional life, the guides I work with seem to be especially good at pulling off negativity. That is the simplest way for me to describe my methods, although it is amazingly unique and interesting process for each individual as we are like the multitudes of snowflakes, each one beautiful in their differences. Be safe, be informed, and use your own intuitive intelligence to see who and what is right for you. Your body your life!Copywrite Lorraine Hughes 2008
